Catch me if you Cannes

June 3rd, 2010 by Stephen Durrant

Going to the Festival de Cannes is a truly great and inspiring experience, no matter what you do or whereabouts you are in the film industry. I was lucky enough to go this year, from May 12th – 17th, with a screenwriting friend of mine. My main purpose of going was to try to make some connections and to catch some new films... (more)

The Day Of

June 7th, 2010 by Erin Lanza

It seemed like just yesterday I walked into the empty black box of ESU to audition of the film "Never Too Late".  As I walked in to the room, I didn't realize that the people that were "sizing me up", so to speak, for the audition, would be the people I would spend much of my summer with... (more)

Brandon Taylor is the lead screenwriter for Hollow Tree Films. He has written the short films "One Minute" and "In the Dark", along with the feature length "The Road Home" and the incomplete "Betrayed".  Taylor has also been in front of the camera as the protagonist, Dimitri, of "One Minute" and Jacob of "In the Dark.

Taylor also works closely with fellow writer, former Hollow Tree Films actor and script editor, Michael Toro, on most writing projects. Currently, Taylor is in the process of writing a television series and three screenplays -- two feature length and two short length.

As of recently, Taylor is the writer of Hollow Tree Film's new feature length film, "Never Too Late". He is also the current webmaster and copy-editor of this very site.

Q. Never knew you were into acting. What's up with that?

A. Who knows. I never considered myself to be an actor. But, hey, it was enjoyable. I really liked working with Mike Toro and Lauren Stuber. They're both best friends of mine. Now Zach, my little brother? Ugh...

Q. Talk about writing. Where does it all come from?

A. All different places. I have to give it up to ABC's "LOST" for inspiring so many revolving themes and motiffs and getting me interesting into the whole writing scene. It's truly an inspiration to me. I know many other Hollow Tree Film members are influenced by the show, too.

Q. What's next on the writing schedule?

A. Well, with the "Never Too Late" script complete, my focus in Hollow Tree Films is on the business area. But as for writing, I plan to continue writing a television series I'm working on called "Home". I also plan to begin writing a future screenplay that Hollow Tree Films may use.
