The Time Has Come

It’s finally here! Better check those emails for call sheets because production for Never Too Late starts tomorrow! It’s been quite a road to get to production from developing characters, discussing countless emails, several table reads, casting, rehearsals, locations, crew meetings, jumping through hoops that were lit on fire; it’s been an enlightening experience. All the members of Hollow Tree Films have done an outstanding job in preparing for this film, especially Melissa Sherry who really kicked some ass. Thanks big sis!
In comparison to Hollow Tree Films previous projects, Never Too Late is a fun, light hearted film, but it still has its elements of darkness. The story focuses on relationships and how people grow from them. My hope is that the audience will leave the film asking the same questions the characters did in the film. What do I need to do to get to where I want to be? What are you waiting for? Is it ever the right time? Brandon has done a beautiful job in creating characters people will love or love to hate.
The cast of Never Too Late is made up of all extremely talented and enthusiastic actors. At the read through the voices of the characters became real and with that the film did too. They all have a very fine grasp of who their characters are and how they would react to certain situations.
Rehearsals were broken down into their “families” which gave the actors a chance to interact with the people they will be with the most. They all had the experience of playing the zany game of Quelf that had them all laughing and loosening up.
Each family had their unforgettable moments. With Julian’s group it was playing the eye contact game and the French laugh. Chase's group had Joey doing 5000 curses, Kaylin and Michelle were getting all giddy because of superstar, and Alexis now has a colorful script. With Anna and Ethan’s group they all learned a new way to count to ten and some should of them should never walk around blind folded.
What’s great about this film is that we’re bringing back all our previous characters through cameo appearances and closing a chapter in the HTF universe. Keep an eye out for them!
This will be the first time we have a crew working with lighting and recording sound separately (Thank god I am not editing this one). It was a fun time training everyone to get use to the different jobs on set. They will all do great! Check out the video of our practice run:

Anthony and I worked on a project for one of our classes this year that would test out some of the new tricks we will be using during production and post. We practiced using the new dolly as well as rerecording sound aka Foley sound. Minus the few kinks in the dolly, it all turned out really well. Ignore my speech in the beginning…

I’m going for the record of the longest blog, although Brandon probably has me beat. This will be my last blog until the end of production and I’m trying to think of everything I should say. I guess its time to start calling action again.
To the cast and crew of Never Too Late: production moves fast and will be over faster than you can say superstar, so take in the experiences you make and bonds you create because it will be something you will cherish long after you get the DVD.
